Seems like my DR is getting worse almost every evening. during twilight time i'm beginning to feel very anxious and DP/R.

I didn't want to do it but i began to take 0.5mg Xanax again, after 3 weeks of getting rid of any Benzo around.

My question is, by your experience - is it safe to take 0.5mg daily for more than 2 months?

When I had DP/DR, it was the worst at night. I hated the evening/late hours.

Anyway - I took .5 mg of Ativan (Lorezapam), which is a benzo as well, for months straight. .5 mg of Ativan is very low, and I had little addiction tendencies when I stopped taking it.

The only things you really need to worry about is dependence and tolerance. If you find yourself completely dependent on it, don't be discouraged, just try to limit it to every other day if you can, and then go from there. If you find yourself tolerant, call your GP right away before you increase your dosage by yourself.

As for physical problems, they usually come as a result of longer exposure on way higher dosages (like if someone was taking 3mg of Ativan daily for a couple years, I may phrase my response differently).

I am not anti-drug for DP/DR. It's one of the things that cured me. I still take Paxil (20mg) daily.

If you are not on an SSRI - good for you. If you need .5mg per day for your DP/DR, it's not the end of the world, and you shouldn't be worried.

I forgot to add, i'm also on 20mg of Paxil (Seroxat).

And when i'm staying up very late at night (since 1am aprx.), i'm getting better and anxious is gone. maybe it's because of the Melatonin or maybe i'm just too tired to be anxious.

If the drug helps you do what you need to do to get better, and it's a low amount, then i say go for it...

If I had gotten ahold of some xanax or if I had been smart enough to take my supply of hydrocodone BEFORE the breakdown I probably would have sailed a little smoother :)

But part of my black and white personality dictated "NO drugs"

So now that I'm in the process of recovering, I see the wonderful grey area that says "hey, drugs are not that bad!" (but i use that to my advantage sometimes...oh well)
