Hi P3

Know how you feel. It's almost worse to get better then fall back down, because you feel like such a fool for thinking you were getting better.

The fact is you are, with all the amazing advice you give everyone here, all your insights, there's no way you haven't made huge progress. What is it, DP or other stuff? Whatever, I bet you it is just one step back amongst the million you've made forward in the past two years

I think a key thing for setbacks is to reduce the amount of time spent suffering the symptoms as much as possible rather than letting the episode run its course.

I have been having bouts of anxiety and I no longer wait to take .12 mg. of lorazepam to get out of it.

There is no benefit to letting it run its course if you have access to emergency medicine. The neural pathways of the undesirable sort are strengthened the longer we spend in the bad state.

I vote for drugs to handle these setbacks on an ad hoc basis, particularly if you have been getting better.

Are you here, p3?

Hey Person3,
To have a set back means u have come forward in getting well. I have never found getting well from this linier or strait forward. It has been steps forward and steps back and steps sideways!! There is just something else to learn. Dont have expectations on how u r ment to be. Where ur ment to be with getting well. U are where u are. u will find ur way back on track again. U r a very smart, insightfull and strong person and i can say that alot of ur posts helped me immensily! That mind will help u get back on track:)
Take care

We're all in this together P3, hang in there.

Everytime I have a set back I keep reminding myself of Janine's advice which is to use all your effort not to focus on the symptoms and that during these times it is the perfect opportunity to practise and condition yourself to stop obsessing. I know, easier said than done. It's really hard but you got to do it.

You will feel better!
