Does anyone ever worry that this is a progressive illness, and may just get worse and worse, until perhaps you dont even know your own name, or it turn into alzciemers (sp) and end up wandering around rooting in bins, whilst muttering to yourself or something?

This is a very common worry when you have DR/DP, and it's a perfectly natural concern, considering that you are having strange experiences. However, while DR/DP can be a precursor to much more serious illnesses, in the vast majority of cases it doesn't. Try not to get stuck in the obsessional rumination cycle in this regard.
