Well as far as I know, the berries and the salad are carbs. Actually it has been found out that a diet high in COMPLEX carbs works the best to heighten serotonin levels which will lower anxiety. Foods high in protein generally have the most tryptophan(serotonin precursor) yet if you eat a high protein diet you will overload the blood with various aminos. This will make the tryptophan compete to get to the brain.
The key is strategic eating. If you have a meal with protein in it, you should eat some complex carbs about 3 hours after the meal. When you eat the complex carbs, insulin is released which will clear the blood stream and allow the insulin resistant tryptophan to go directly to the brain. Simple carbs like sugars do the same thing only they create a quick spike of serotonin which will probably make you feel worse.
A good idea is to supplement 5htp into your diet. Always take it 45 minutes before or 3 hours after a protein meal. Then all you have to do is eat lots of potatoes!!
