I have had DP for years to a point but the last few months have been really bad. My entire life feels like one long dream and it is very unpleasant because it never goes away. I have tons of physical symptoms that have been occuring along with the DP and now I believe that there may be something wrong with me physically that is causing the DP. My doctor does not seem to have much experience with this disorder and I'm getting frustrated. What physical problems could cause DP?

My personnal opinion on that is :

Lack of sleep, eating habits, lack of exercisse, hypoglcemia, respiratory problems, junk food.

To me all these factors are violent triggers for DP...if I don;t eat well enough I get DP badly...same for all the others above.

I beleive that DP/DR could be caused by a general deterioration in our health in general...

Do the tests, have a perfect life for 6 months...with healthy food, plenty of exercisse and good sleep...you'll feel better for sure.
Works for me.

For depersonalization in general, i think the catalyst is anxiety.

For the severe bouts of it (something i'm going through right now as well), i think physical components can contribute to a certain extent (for example, when i drink excessively, i REALLY feel it the next day). And i think exercise and a healthy diet can keep dp to a certain plateau level...but overall, i think the underlying issues of anxiety have to be licked before the feeling will recede.

Yeah, i've always assumed that its been a problem located deep within the murky depths of our brain and is not subject to our health directly. If I exercise and eat right, it isn't my DP getting better, its that our general well-being has improved. I don't think its related.

yeast overgrowth is a major one so give that a look see. its very hard to get rid of it though and not widely accepted in the western world. but dont lose hope there is alot of info on the net that can help you. type candida overgrowth or yeast overgrowth into your browser and have a look around. yeast is a major cause of diabetes, which also has dp dr brain fog type symptoms, along with the sugar cravings and so on. yeast thrive on sugars, especially refined sugars, so if you have an addiction to sugar or you consume alot of sugar and high glycemic carbs like bread, potatos, and so on... than you may have an overgrowth and may in fact be borderline diabetic. i know this cause im going through all that too. get your blood checked to see if you may have hypoglycemia. there really are no medicines out there that can help with this. it takes a combonation of diet, excersize, and sticking to your yeast cleanse.
