So I have lately been keeping a diary that records my mood, sleep, supplements and food. I feel Im making some headway (pardon the pun)

I have found that my DR is worse when I do the following

1. Drink Caffeine

2. Drink Fizzy drinks

3. Get less than 7 hours sleep (with 4hrs of deep sleep)

4. Eat Mcdonalds (Eating this stuff is like pouring glue into my head, it makes me feel groggy)

5. Wear my prescription glasses (contact lenses are perfectly fine)

6. Driving more than 30 minutes at a time

7. Under artificial lights !!!!!

What makes it better

1. Exercise

2. Niacin (Vitamin B3) (extremely helpful - 1.5g of flushing niacin a day)

3. Blue light blocking glasses (wearing them when feeling fatigued)

4. Regular Sauna use coupled with Niacin has given me some real moments of clear head and made my cognition better. I cant recommend that enough.

5. 15 minute nap after work

6. Free writing (currently doing jordan petersons self authoring program)

What makes your DR better / worse ?

Good topic!

Let's see

I have found that my DR is worse when I do the following

1. Few days after stimulants

2. Driving in my car showering

3. In the city where there are lot of people

4. When I'm tired

What makes it better

1. Exercise (for me sometimes not always)

2. Talking with people on app

3. Stimulants sometimes but not always

4. Alcohol sometimes but not always

5. Being a witness of a fight or something sensational on the street

worse:

-during intense exercise

-obsession/hyperawareness

-to much sensory information

-basically any kind of stress

better:

-massage (had some clarity afterwards when i managed to relax during the massage)

-mindfullness meditaion

-after exercising

-deep visualization of some safe place(usually pleasant memories for me)

-any passion in life that i can truly loose myself in

It basically comes down to how calm my nervous system is anything that helps with that also helps the dr

Poor quality sleep is the number one reason for making me feel worse........

Secondly I will say boredom.......

When I get proper sleep Im like a brand new person the next day.........

My hobby has literally saved me from years of boredom and hence has improved my mental state so much........

I now never deny myself sleep no matter what time of the day it is because ive had many many years of insomnia and my constantly tired mind needs all the rest it can get......I also use every available moment to engage my brain in my hobby....I must also say that if you take up a hobby it has to constantly stimulate your mind and fascinate and interest you...Otherwise it will bore you and become a chore and thats actually work not a hobby...

Sleep loads and find your passion in life people...Sure our time on this planet is so short anyway...Take advantage of it and do things you love...ONCE they are GOOD HONEST DECENT things.....

Of course having said all this when in the throws of chronic DP stuff like this becomes impossible....These ideas are more so to be applied when we are feeling better.....

Worse:

Any kind of conflict (even if I'm not directly a part of it, or even in TV)
Alcohol
Exercise (for about the first hour or two afterwards)
Crowds

Better:
Comforting social interactions, most commonly one-on-one
Putting pen to paper
Engrossing myself in some interesting academic subject.
