Hi everone

I have seen many posts about different meds, but not about the different types of therapy.

It would be really interesting to know about the different forms of therapy, alternative and regular and how thay have affected you.

I'll start with what I have done.

Hynosis - felt better about myself on general, not much change to DP
NLP - same as above
Cognotive behavioual therapy - helped to me understand why I do things
Bio energy healing - did nothing
Counselling - the biggest waste of time for me, came out feeling worse.
Thought Field Therapy - made a big difference, had glimpses of reality
after the session.

I am willing to try almost anything to get better especially if it has helped people, so please write what you have done.

Bach Remedies - did not do anything.
Reiki - made my body very relaxed but no help for dp/dr.
Accupuncture - did not do anything.
Massage - made body relaxed but no help for dp/dr.
Head Massage - made dp/dr worse.
Psychotherapy - just somewhere to vent really.
Herbal Remedies - relaxes body but no help for dp/dr.
Exposure Therapy - made anxieties and dp/dr worse.
Meditation - made anxieties and dp/dr worse.
Relaxation Therapy - did not do anything.

i am next trying Hypnotherapy and NLP this thursday :shock:

i have had exposure therapy.....i didnt find it helped to be honest cause i am still extremely agroaphobic and sort of used the therapist as a crutch,and going to the same place week after week to try to make it seem safe just pissed me off :(

when you are encouraged to go out into the outside world...to start with in my case i had to go to the supermarket.....my therapist would pick me up and take me and shop with me....then the following week i had to drive to the shops with her following me...but she still came shopping with me....and gradually over time i started to meet her there and she would follow me around the shop....the last time i went on my own ....shopped on my own while she stayed in her car.....but i still cant face the whole thing without support.....now were moving on to looking through a book about CBT.....cause i am sick to death of supermarkets

it is when you purposely just do what you fear and put yourself in situations where you have to totally confront your fears...forcing yourself to accept and come to terms with it...

having dp/dr means once you have woken up you are in exposure therapy anyways i suppose...
