There was a doctor in NYC who in 2001 was the big expert on depersonalization. Her name was all over this board like Beyonce at a Grammy ceremony. So I marched up to the Upper West Side and sat myself down in her office determined to get her to cure me and....
....it was worthless. God bless her, she is likely a brilliant woman, but it just wasn't the right fit for me.
Years later, my mom recommends a therapist. I'm skeptical. What the hell does this guy know? I mean, come on. We are in a mid size city with no uber famous expert doctors. But I agree to visit him.
He was amazing.
I mean he wasn't magical...he was just a fantastic fit and a wonderfully compassionate person. I saw him for a long time and am glad I did.
All those years and this guy was three damn miles from my house.
