You know how we try sometimes supress our thoughts? Or try and not think certain things. Ironically we are monitoring our selves and when we say we are not going to think about this thought or that thought, THe thought is impossible to stop thinking about. When we self monitor we are looking for those very things we are trying not to think, we are trying to contol our thoughts in the mean time we are looking and searching staying on guard for any part of that thought or that feeling, or that Idea of we are going to go crazy and loose all touch with reality. We are like little sentry guards for our own thoughts. The very thoughts we are trying to suppress we are monitoring for ,, so Guess what that is so IRONIC>....

THink them into extinction,but trying not to think about something you will think about it more.... Try it , tell yourself you are not going to think about a pink and white bowling ball for the next hour... Bet you that is what you think about......So to try and stop thinking about something makes us monitor for it more. So go ahead and think it....think it to death.. You mind will grow bored with it eventually.

very good post there .... this is exactly what i have been thinking but never written it down, I think alot of people need to read that and use it to help them out. What it all comes down to is that the only way out is complete distraction ... when im at work i get invovled as much as possible and as soon as i think dont think about dp .. i wont stand there and try and think about something else, ill do anything that makes my mind have to think about completeing a task or something that needs thoughts that are completely non dp related .. i do this all day and i feel great .. i go through quick little episodes where i think what was that thing that i have wrong with me again which compared to b4 is alot better.

thats a good post i was wondering the same thoughts over this past summer, I find it easier to just roll with what thoughts I have. Accep they are there dont try to force them out nessciarly you are giving them too much attention.

Its like when your mother says dont give any let the bullies at school know that it bothers you or else they will continue to bother you. same thing with your thoughts, more attention and thought you give htem the more the feed.

I think the best way to ignore this BS is just to try to go with the flow and try to create as little friction with your thoughts as you can, try and let them go and pass I think works for me.
