I came up with something, but I first must say, that everyone experiences depersonalization, so what works for me, may not work for you.
My depersonalization is primary. It does not stem from anxiety or depression.

When I am feeling it, there is little I can do to make it go away. I am able to function with it.

My insight, is that since I can’t make it go away, the trick is to learn coping skills, relaxation exercises, CBT, etc., so that I don’t let it interfere with my life, or make me anxious or depressed.

I wish there was a proper solution for me. I can't make it go away. It comes and goes when it chooses. All I can do is learn to cope with it. For 45 years, it just comes and goes. At least now, it does not interfere with my day to day functioning, but it still feels awful. Before, I freaked out, and it made me just crumple.

I am lucky. I am able to function. I gather for some people it prevents them from functioning. It still feels awful however. When I first got it, 45 years ago, it was horrible. They think it is related to a seizure disorder, and I take an anti convulsant, and while it comes back, it does not seem as intense as it once was, or maybe I am just more used to it. It is back now.
