Were your parents alholics?
How did it show?

My parents drank a lot but they thougth that I do not notice it. After drinking and quarrelling they never came to me and apologized. Other people thought that we are a kind of dreamfamilily were everything is perfectly.For me it was terrifying time and at that time I got my first DP-symptoms.

my dad was an alcoholic and i presume he drank openly but i didn't know him. grew up with my mum who doesn't really drink

My father drank openly (beer, whiskey), my mother didn't.

To me it was just normal (I thought everybody's dads constantly had whiskey breath).

He got over it before I was in my teens, however (and only later did I learn from my brother that he did so only because my mom was just a hair's breadth from leaving him over it).

My Dad drank openly, we saw mostly beer being consumed, other alcohol when he visited his parents, or when he was alone. He is an alcoholic, drinking possibly to self medicate PTSD from war experience. I often heard him tell traumatic stories from the war, while he was drunk and spaced out.

My Mom never drank in front of us, don't know that she ever did drink.

Are you serious or do you just FEEL like they must have been smoking crack when you were concieved? How are they now? How are YOU now?

Only my father has an alcohol problem. He still stashes bottles around his house and phones people when he's drunk. He has a kind heart but crusty exterior and he's not violent or abusive, so I think he's broken hearted from childhood. I never had to endure much anxiety from his drinking.
