So I had a meeting with my minister today about various things, and one thing she said stuck with me. We were talking about my being gay, and she said (this has a religious tone to it, but it's helpful for all) "to really accept yourself, you have to want to accept yourself. In the Bible Jesus asks the people who ask to be healed, "do you want to be healed." And it's not on your own terms, when you feel like it, you have to WANT to be healed/accept yourself." I thought about that in terms of us. So many of us want to be healed, but on our own terms, when we feel like it, etc. I am like this all too often. Just a thought.
