Floaters have nothing to do with dp. There is a correlation between anxious people and dp, and anxious people and reporting vitreous floaters. You are thinking too much about things, and that's why you notice both of them.

I should add that if you're having accompanying flashes in your eyes or had the floaters appear in a flurry, all at once, then you should see your eye doctor immediately. If this is an on-going thing, and it is merely annoying, then don't worry about it and bring it up next time you see the doctor.

good luck,

s.

I used to haev floaters all the time. I still have vision problems but the floaters are virtually erased. Once my visual problems subsided into a non-issue, thats when the DP hit my like a truck, so i doubt there is much of a correlation.

This is going to sound stupid but I think the floaters are always there but we normally cannot seem them when we are not depersonalized. The mechanism sort of sets us back in ourselves. Its as if we are seeing our world from behind our lenses of our eyes(at least of me). I was even able to see a scar I have on my left retina projected largely in my view. Thats why all of the debris in our eyes is viewable when we are dp'd. Its like we are not in sync with the rest of our body. When I started coming out of dp, I felt as tho I was stepping forward into myself. As my recovery progressed the floaters got larger and larger till my entire vision was covered in homongous dark transparent beach balls. It was so bad I had a difficult time seeing. I thought my brain or eyes were going to hell. From one day to the next, I couldnt see the floaters at all but I was out of dp and I was 100% in reality. Coming out of dp was the strangest experience ever.

Floaters :

Normal condition experienced by at least 50% of the population, wich consist of a deterioration of a membrane in the eye, wich actually floats in the eyeball liquid.
The deterioration is mainly due to humidity...and it's perfectly normal.
We see them more because of the anxiety.
Because we tend to focus more than *normal* people.

A ophtalmologist explained it to me.
I have numerous floaters constantly in font of my sight...and my sight is actually over the average.

Please don't worry about those...this is a NORMAL HUMAN EXPERIENCE !

I also have many floaters since childwood, they said (ophtalmo) it was because I was more sensitive than the average people, who have it but don't see it.

Interesting fact. Just before my delivery (and Dp hell), I began to be very troubled by those floaters, and I had to wear sunglasses (it was summer!) because they were bugging me, I was always looking at them.

strange

I have bad vision too: see double, floaters (not too often), blurry vision that comes and goes (even with glasses on), and in the dark, this one's the weirdest, I see streaks and moving orbs of light.

My vision problems are worse too. I have them all, but my eyes are good (have let them checked a while ago). So it has to be anxiety. Even though I am not scared or anxious. And I have used Benzo's only in the beginning of my dr/dp, 7,5 years ago, and the visual problems are just of last two years...
Sometimes they scare me, but most of the time, I am used to it. You will get used to it. Or it will pass. Time will learn.
