You know ever since I found this board I kept thinking one thing... why doesnt anyone post anything happy?! I understand this is a support and help board but that doesnt mean you cant discuss the better things in life! I have read several posts saying it is bad for this disorder to post on these kind of sites... The ONLY reason I think it is bad is because it is a breading ground for all those awful feeling we have inside ourselves! YES we need to face the acts about ourselves and this disorder! YES it is good to talk to someone about what you are feelin! YES IT IS WONDERFUL THAT WE ALL HAVE A PLACE WE CAN TALK ABOUT ALL THIS CRAP!!
However as beneficial as all those things are I think it would be good if we all tried to share some of the happier things in life. I dunno... I really dont mean for this to come off wrong but... here goes:
Every time I come in this message board I feel a little down. Seems like everything here is so sad and depressing! Everyone is always talking about this disorder! lol I know I know... now you are thinking weel that is what this board is for! I belong to other message boards that are for specific things and though we discuss those things a lot we also discuss our lives and happy events and...
well, honestly for how much some of you are on here I really dont understand why noone here does that! Seems like a lot of you probably have gotten to know each other real well by now, been around here for a while. Why not just share some things outside of the DR/DR spectrum??
I mean if you think about it, it makes sense. If you are depressed and you talk to a bunch of depressed people about how depressed they are all the time a few things will happen. Sure you will feel better knowing others feel the same and comforted in that aspect. But at a certain point all it will do is help keep you depressed!
I am not trying to knock on anyone here! I certainly am not trying to discourage anyone from talking about all the upsetting things in regards to this disorder! I am trying to open everyones eyes to the fact that Unhappy thoughts breed unhappiness! Depressed thoughts breed depression! Obsessive thoughts breed obsession! The more you fixiate on anything the worse it will get before it gets better!
I write this post only in the hopes that you will all see what I am saying and possibly be encourage to share more of the normal daily life evens and happy moments with us all! I wish you all well!
