Ok, so I heard that the UK has a 11pm closing time for pubs. This is quite disturbing for someone who is used to being kicked out at 5am. But I also heard that that law has been abolished and 24 hr drinking will come into effect some time this year. I am thinking of going over soon so basically i wanna know is this true and when does it come to effect?

The law for 24hr drinking is technically in place now, but there's yet to be (m)any pubs apply for the new licence - afraid they'll be the first to get turned down I suppose.

I'm not sure when it'll be put into practice properly .

Heya

Basically it is law now that pubs can apply for late liscensing past 11pm, yet they would be 'taxed' on extra hours to pay for the extra policing of the drunken tw**s who make many cities hell past 11pm. Thus very few pubs have applied for this.

Still 90% of pubs shut at 11pm and clubs are generally open till 2
