I have been suffering from the disorder for the past 15 years and am currently considering either TMS or neurofeedback, both treatments requiring a minimum of two-three months and coming with a heavy price tag. In case one fails, I may experiment with the other later on, but I would like my current choice to be an educated one. Considerations:
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
- Regarding TMS, I was able to access via PubMed six studies discussing TMS for DP. The studies noted three different relevant brain areas: dorso-lateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC); ventro-lateral prefrontal cortex (VLPFC); temporo-parietal junction (TPJ). TMS to the DLPFC is irrelevant, since I was treated in this area in the past and experienced no relief; TMS to the TPJ is, unfortunately, irrelevant as well, since all TMS clinics in my country make use of Brainsway equipment suitable for dTMS, which is unable to reach the TPJ. Therefore, TMS is only possible to the VLPFC.
- Regarding NF: I was unable to locate any studies discussing NF for DP. Rather, I rely on first-hand, positive online testimonials.
