Hola gang...
I am still pretty new here, but I have a question that I hope some of you will get back to me on. Q? Have any of you, in the middle of a conversation with someone, all of a sudden feel like you are looking at the other person through a tunnel? I seem to experience this periodically, and when I do, it usually signals that I am in the middle of a full blown "DP EPISODE"! Anyway, I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else?

Thanks,
Tony

I dunno if this relates.

But sometimes when I'am talking to someone and looking at their face, I kinda zone out and its as if I dunno who they hell they are and what the hell we're talking about.

...and reality collapses in on me.

Hola, Tony.

Don't be alarmed, I believe this is a common feature of anxiety and panic disorders. The science behind it is rather simple, too. It happens because the panic causes your body's fight or flight mechanism to kick in, your eyes are trying to focus on the 'attacker', or so to speak.

Whenever this happens I try to focus on nothing but my breathing. Usually, within about three minutes of deep breathing, the panic response will become exhausted and eventually disappear.

Thank's for the idea. The next time it happens...I will try the "breathing thing". Sounds like a logical idea.

"IMAGINE"
Yeah..it does relate! I have the same thing happen to me when I'm in the "tunnel". I lose track of what they are saying, and the only thing I can hear is the sound of my own voice in my head. It's a trip...oh btw..."wicked" website...I like.
