a friend of mine thinks that there is a meaning for this, for dep and der in his life.. a sense he can't understand, no one can understand but he is sure there IS..maybe the meaning is helping people who don't suffer from it to appreciate small things... be happy when you stay with your friends or when you see the person you are in love with... be proud of you while you're playing your instrument with your band.. but sometime he looses this belief... what do you think about it? do you think there is a sense in having depersonalization?
i'm only try to understand what does it mean...

Well I think we all hope so, but who knows? I've heard people talk about how they are glad some horrible thing has happened to them because now they have overcome it and are helping others to overcome the same problem. Something they wouldn't have been able to do if they never experienced it. But I don't know I guess I'm just bitter... I don't understand why any of us have to suffer at all.

Luna in many ways I am happy I got dp/dr. It has helped me find the truth about God and it has made me a much better person in some ways.
I think that if I could time travel I would go back into the past and prevent myself from getting this illness though. Dp/dr is a horrible nightmare and I do not believe that there is a meaning for this illness.
It is what it is.

If your friend likes to think there is a meaning it won't hurt to let him keep thinking this way. Just don't let him become delusional.
