The Persistence of Misery...

While I'm in a moderatly depressed mood for no apparent reason, has anyone seen the painting by Giorgio de Chirico, 'Melancholy and the Mystery of a Street' ? Apart from being one of my favourite works of art, it encapsulates exactly how I visualise my fears when I feel a panic attack coming on.

Anywho...

Isn't it a fantastic work of art. I adore it. Sometimes I wish I could wake up and live in a world like that, full of dark mystery, a little threat, but the promise of magic and unseen wonders. Superb stuff.
That's one of the appeals surrealism has always held for me. Fantastic otherworlds that I could just lose myself in.

De Chirico was always one of my favorites too (pity he had to get off on that old master kick).
