I visited the hppdonline website, and i find myself relating to the visual symptoms described. i see shapes and colors etc...

By browsing their forum, i see that a lot of posts there dealing with DP, i never did any drugs or something, but seems like i have both DP and HPPD.

I'm confused.

Moondust. HPPD can only occur if you have done drugs. The "H" refers to hallucinogenic. Lots of people who do hallucinogens or blow weed wind up with dp/dr as well. HPPD is a purely visual scenario, while dr has a whole gamut of symtpoms that include visual stuff. But I do not think I have heard anybody refer to seeing shapes
and true hallucinogenic colors purely from dp/dr.

Not sure what is going on with you if you ae seeing shapes and colors. Maybe it is just a problem of terms. When I am symptomatic with dr/dp I see snowy, grainy air and a fog of sorts. My vision blurs significantly when under flourescent lights. I also can see halos around streetlights if I look hard enough. Actually color "enhancement" can occur as well. Maybe some of this is happening for you. It cannot be HPPD if you have never done drugs.

moondust, are you sure you are seeing visual shape distortions? Most people experience floaters when tired or under stress,or if the daylight is too strong. They are harmless, and not disruptive.I'd be surprised if you were seeing colour distortions and visuals if you never did drugs especially hallucogens.People with dp/dr also seem to be subject to vivid imagination, creativity, flights of fancy, even hypochondria, and may be heavily influenced by something interesting or new that we read.Thats where the internet is both a blessing and a curse. You may have got new insights into dp/dr through the internet, but also be adding on new symptoms onto your own ones, convincing yourself that you suffer these as well. When diagnosed with major depression,I was unsatisfied with the diagnosis and thru the information online,I began to self diagnose.I was schizophrenic, had ocd,was dissociative. Then I had split personality disorder.I now see the error of my ways.I had dp/dr brought on by massive depression. Its 100 times more useful to simplify and accept rather than specify new symptoms. How are you coping? How disturbing is your dp/dr?Are the visuals very intrusive or do you notice them in passing?
