“The only way to battle intrusiveness in thoughts is to not care” But to not care is to acknowledge that those thoughts don’t do anything towards reality.
So, a moment ago I had a real epiphany. Not an untrue one... the only thing that kept me distorting my mind was magical thinking. My OCD went in circles because I thought that how I reacted to those thoughts was what ultimately mattered for my future. This is known as the idea that you can influence the outcome of specific events by doing something that has no bearing on the circumstances. I would frequently view certain thoughts as a threat because they were “intrusive” and therefore would make an effort to win against them. It’s a recipe for disaster.
This relates to DP because doing this WILL not only distort your view of reality, but your own sanity.
