im just curious as to how peoples doctors consultations are different now to say 2,3,4,5 years ago depending on how long youve had dp/dr ?
i had my 3 monthly visit this morning and years ago i used to talk and talk and talk and explain my symptoms etc..now im just like

doc.how are you john

me.yeh so so

doc.thats good

me.yep

doc.what can i do for you

me.i just need my certificate and a prescription

doc.ok her you go

me.thanks bye

the question i ask myself is this me just not caring anymore? or is it me fed up with repeating myself? or is it me accepting that this is it for me ?

when people talk about 'feeling flat' i never understood this feeling until now because i also have no real fight anymore i just seem to have this attitude that nothing is worth the effort anymore

Have you had therapy over a period of time or just a session now and then? Do you work? Go to school? How old are you? Sorry if these questions seem invasive...

it was group therepy and we had 2 therapists who would walk into the room and say nothing at all....so after a few weeks i told them it was bullshit as i can sit in silence at home if need be...oh and one girl was talking about commiting suicide about 5 minutes from the end of the session and rather than take this poor vunerable girl to oneside they said 'ok thats it session over have a good weekend'

They're the same as they've always been (and I'm talking about as compared with more than twenty-five years ago).

Here it is, the farking 21st century (so the calendar says), but everything (but the computer I'm typing this on) still says 20th.

So much for progress.

Yes, jc, I can see why you said "bullshit," -- arghh.

You really need one-on-one therapy, not that. But it sounds like in the UK finding that is not easy. I think that's deplorable.

Maybe you can try to find a private therapist who will use a sliding-scale fee that is affordable.

I would recommend looking here and using this site in your efforts to obtain affordable therapy with a qualified person:
