Do you ever experience something of a slide show of random images from your life in your mind? I am not sure it is part of DP, I never encountered such description, but for all that I know it might be. For me it happens from time to time, often in the afternoon or evening. Just like with these old slide projectors, I can almost hear them clicking. I do realize that these are sequences of images that have some kind of a narrative line that binds them, but I do not seem to grasp it, because they are quite random, some are from actual memories of mine and from different times in life, and some are from other sources such a movies or media. I never understood what it is about, and when it starts, I have to let it do its thing, and wait until it passes...

Depersonalization-derealization disorder is essentially a disorder of "self-awareness" as Mauricio Sierra put it, one of the leading contemporary (though currently retired) researchers of the condition. What this means is that the individual finds his/her own existence strange and uncanny to put it simply. So, though many of the phenomena that which a depersonlized experiences is normal, it seems distant and unfamiliar and "weird" to the person with the condition. The illusion of DPD is that you feel like you become an observer of the outside world, but also the inside world which includes your memories as well. Please read my thread to find out why your experiences seem odd: https://www.dpselfhelp.com/forum/index.php?/topic/98090-the-only-important-thing-to-know/#entry614462

I can myself attest to what you are saying though, I have also experienced the phenomena which you speak of on a regular basis, but over time you learn to not care about it, just like most of the other very subjective symptoms of this condition.
