How many here take St Johns Wort? Im curious if anybody here has had a good response. I unknowingly was getting positive results from it and I didnt even realize it. I had been taking a low dose over a period of a few months and just figured my recovery was due to time off the toxic psychiatric drugs. I guess I just figured this herb was so mild that it wasnt making any difference. I stopped taking it a while back and had a relapse. As soon as I started it again I began feeling better each day. Im starting to think its the real deal.

I had it recommended to me by a psychiatrist one time after realizing I could not take ssri's and found that for some reason or another my depression lifted while I was on it. Don't know if it was the sjw or jsut coincedence.

I read an article two years ago that cast considerable dout on sjw saying that there was no way of studying its effectiveness becasue the sources for the herb are not standard and one never knows what they are getting. The article also doubted the claims made by patients.

One has to wonder why it is used in Europe more than prozac for depression.(according to my ex shrink 7 years ago) It apparantly has to be working for somebody, eh?

I think the reason its widely prescribed in Europe is because it works as good or better than ssris and it has next to no side effects. I wish I would have found this drug 15 years ago.

I know there was a trial awhile back that claimed that it was not effective but that same trial also claimed zoloft was ineffective. Also this negative trial used a very weak grade of sjw.

All I know is Ive tried alot of prescribed drugs and not one of them even compares to the positive effects of SJW. On my second trial, it took about 2 weeks to get that nice fuzzy relaxed feeling that boosted serotonin brings. My vision cleared up, my ears became unclogged, and colors started to look right. That feeling of being in a jar went away and the lighting in rooms started to become bright once again. My ears became unclogged and people around me and my environment are once again familiar. My memory, sex drive, and emotions are also coming back. Its amazing.

I'd like to try it but I guess you can't take it if you're on ad:s and ap:s ? SJW apparently lowers many meds' effect or otherwise mixes them up. Too bad.

Hi Maria,

Yes, you have to be careful with sjw cause it interacts with alot of other drugs. I think I read someplace that it messes with enzymes which causes other drugs to lose their potency. Its a powerful serotonin booster and if you take it with an ssri it can give you serotonin syndrome. The way I look at it is, Id rather throw the rest of the crap in the toilet and just take one natural, safe, effective drug that really works.

One thing Ive noticed is that I cannot handle the 900mg suggested dose. It seems there is a small window for me and any more over shoots it and makes my conditions worse. A tiny single dose of 300mg taken at supper allows me to sleep like a log and feel wonderful the next day. I am taking Perika, which is known to be very potent and maybe this is the reason why I need such a small dose.
