I was on 10 mg of Paxil for a long period of time (about 4 years). My sex drive and ability to "perform and release" was fine.

Now that my dosage has been increased to 20mg, something has changed. I know this may be too much information, but if you haven't stopped reading yet, I guess you don't mind:

I can "keep it up" just fine. The problem is that I can't hit the point of the big O and it is so frustrating.

Are any of you on SSRIs that do not interfere with sex drive, performance, and ability for the big O? At 29 years old, this is one of the worst side effects.

10 mg of Paxil and I've never had a problem - but, that might be a different story if I changed to a higher dosage.

I would simply talk to your Doctor - we're not going to be able to answer you better than them.

Well, I'm a girl but I'll answer because it's one of the side effects I've had with ssri's that I know was a direct cause of the medicine. I was on Paxil 20 mg. and it made it very hard to have an orgasm. I would get up almost to the point of one, but any little thing would disrupt it and I would lose it. It sucked. Because I can usually have an orgasm so easily. If I was a guy I'd be a 2 minute man. My boyfriend and I ended up getting me a vibrator just to help things along a little because I was having such a problem having orgasms on the Paxil. When I switched to Celexa I got back my orgasms but it has dulled my sex drive a little bit. Now, I'm still on Celexa and it's less dulled than before, but I have a normal sex drive instead of being horny 24/7 which is fine with me because it doesn't look like I'm getting any any time soon.

Guys,

First off - I'm very happy to see that we can discuss topics like this on this newsgroup. This is a very, very serious question among adults and nothing to be taken lightly; the fact that nobody has come onto this thing and turned it into a joke shows the maturity of this group.

Second - Mcseigs - how long have you been taking the new dosage? After some remembering, I recall I had, actually, the exact opposite problem as you when I first started taking Paxil (well, maybe not the exact opposite). Essentially, I could have sex for a long time, but never have an orgasm - the result was frustrating for me, maybe not for the girls I was with, though :). It was VERY shortly after starting the medication, and after a while I found that it subsided and everything returnd back to normal.

One of the side-effects of this medication is sexual performance in various different ways; so, you should just check with your physician.

I have been on the new dosage for about 3 1/2 weeks now.

I have the same issue as enngirl - I can have sex with my girlfriend for a very long time, but when I feel as though an orgasm may be coming, it never does.

Also, when I have an orgasm, some sperm comes out before I feel the orgasm. It's like a delayed reaction (it still feels good though).

I will definitely speak with my physician, and thanks for letting me know that this may subside.
