Hello all.
So let me start this off by saying I'm not a super metaphysical person, I believe in science. Moving on, I have a weird quirk. I enjoy taking showers in the dark.
I don't really know when this started, but it's something I've done off and on again for some time. I never really thought anything of it.
The only benefit of it is I tend to get an increase in my imagination. I often times have elaborate scenarios play out in my head where I feel whisked away as If I had a front row seat for a really good movie.
Anyways having only recently found out about DP I have become very analytic about my habits. This usually results in internal dialogue and back and forth optimism/pessimism.
With that in mind, today I decided to take another shower in the dark.
Everything was normal. I turned on the water, turned off the lights, and stepped into the shower.
For some time now I've notice I tend to keep my back to the water, my left arm behind my back holding my right arm in place as it hangs down, and I rock side to side with the water as I begin my thoughts.
Today was weird. I don't remember what I was thinking about, but mid way through a thought I became aware I was having it and realized I was practically sucked into a dream.
Maybe I'm wording wrong, but It basically felt like I was dreaming while awake and before I snapped back to reality I had the realization... It wasn't quite a day dream either. I could see all of the imagery perfectly and in the moment I felt no attachment to my body at all.
My initial reaction was "Is this what an out of body experience feels like?" But the more I think about it, I'm not sure.
So my question to you all are these:
1. Have you ever tried sensory deprivation?
2. Have you ever had an out of body experience?
3. Do you day dream often?
And yes I am aware I am not practicing true sensory dep. I simply lack the tools. So for now I'll settle for visual dep.
