when we have questioned everything that makes us human ie, talking-HOW WE STRING SENTENCES TOGETHER,walking and movement, and how we see how the hell can u ever return to normal when u never get answers. Iam really afraid that through this illness i am now scared of life. IT DOESNT MATTER WHERE I AM OR WHAT I AM DOING I AM ALWAYS SCARED HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET OVER THIS :?:

These are big questions.
Life is scary sometimes,I think this is normal.
It's just not normal to think about it 24/7 and scare yourself silly.

Would it be possible to change the channel everytime your thoughts go there.Meaning switch onto something a tad more superficial.

It's ok to be light sometimes, watch the footy, sex and the city, listen to Abba, take up dragon boat racing etc or whatever it is that takes you away from all the deep thinking.

Honestly I don't have the answer.
I do recall when I got stuck in the "what's it all about"thinking,I went around in circles and felt scared and fragile.
My guess is that I was a terrible bore to be with as well.My partner just didn't have time to spend pondering life and it's mysteries with me........he was too busy having one

Take care,I hope you can find a way to enjoy life and not question so much.
It's not much fun to feel so stuck :(

Wishing you all the best,
Cheers Shelly

when we have questioned everything that makes us human ie, talking-HOW WE STRING SENTENCES TOGETHER,walking and movement, and how we see
This is exactly what I am doing at the moment and it is driving me crazy. I'm not even sure if I have DP that badly anymore but I'm still having these thoughts. I thought the thoughts would go when the DP goes but obviously not.

I wish I had never thought them. Its as though a door has been opened in my mind and all the things I did without ever questioning suddenly dont make sense.

If anyone has any good tips or advice on how to stop thinking them and just live without questioning them it would be much appreciated.

I had all this believe me just like you guys, 24/7. My brain would not shut up & in the end I said to hell with this I am here living & questioning it is just silly cause I'll never get an answer to satisfy me cause another question will come up.

You have to learn to say Stop! & just focus on life.

It will eventually go away when you retrain your brain onto a new habit. Takes time but it also takes your willpower to want to change and just as mysteriously as these questions come they will disappear.

When it all disappears you will look at life with new eyes & see the beauty, wonde r magic in everything & shake your head & wonder why the hell did I get so crazy & so afraid? & then the bastard will start reminding you why & you are strong enough now to say stop & then just keep on living & experiencing happiness. All mind games!

Might sound nuts but that is how it happened for me.

Something you could try is to keep asking "Why". No, not like what you think.

To answer the above questions, for instance, if you keep asking "why?" to every answer you get, you'll eventually go crazy, but ultimately it's this : Ever heard of the Tower of Babylon? God confused language, and struck down the tower. Now I'm no Christian (Not anymore), but language is invented by Man. We Created the rules for everything to happen. WE made the society. WE Made it compulsory to barter money for Goods. WE made it necessary to live a certain way, act a certain way, THINK a certain way. So actually NOT LIVING BY THOSE RULES isn't that scary. It just means we're different.

We Don't Have to be same as everyone else.

Ask Why when you panic. Ask why you're panicking. Why are you afraid? What is so frightening? The prospect of not knowing?

We named the sky blue, and we stopped looking at it. We named the clouds by scientific names, and we stopped wondering at them. We've built a civilization and knowledge base of what we think we "Know", but in fact have no idea of.

Why does gravity work? Why is the sky blue? Why does everyone out there think they Know all these things?

Who gave us the right to play God?

In other words, everyone out there in the world, at this moment in time, are just as clueless as you. But they don't really think about this, because they're so engrossed in their own lives, which is why distracting yourself helps in alleviating DP.

Strength.

Brilliant words Kerio. Absolutely true. The way I see it is, perhaps there is some guy up there, or some divine 'thing' that created us. Perhaps we are just players on a stage and this is all some big play. Perhaps we are nothing more than a bunch of electrical impulses. Who knows, the greatest scientists of all time have not found out so we're not about to. Even if the depths of dp 'expose' some clue as to why we are here - who cares - it feels bloody awful, and I'd much rather live this life I've been given, knowing why Im living it won't make me any happier and trying to find out confuses me. We all have our own little obsessions that fuel our dp. Some worry about bodily functions like speaking, some worry about their image, others worry about the universe. All elusive things that we can't explain so our minds crumble. But we keep pursuing it because we think we will come up with the answer and we love to scare ourselves.

If there is something more to it, I think that we will find out when we 'meet our maker' so to speak.

If there is nothing, and we are just electrical impulses with no souls, then Im damned if Im gonna waste my time here worrying about it. Cos this will be the only fun Im gonna get!

Leave the philosophising to the academics who don't get dp'd everytime they think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
