Well...here I am...back again in another DP, stressed out, high anxiety time. I started my first class for my Master's degree three weeks ago and have my first exam this weekend (Saturday). I am only taking one class at a time. But in order for my work to pay for my classes, I have to get at least a B in the class. Well I have been trying to study ahead of time for this exam and cannot get the information to get into my head. It is so hard to concentrate and get things to register and to remember things. I have always had a tough time studying, getting things to register, concentrating, etc.
As each day gets closer to Saturday, I get more and more stressed, my anxiety increases and my DP worsens. Everytime I think of class I get this scared feeling. And this is only the first class! I have 11 more I think.
Anyone else have this problem? How does everyone deal with new things that add added stress?? Help is appreciated! Thanks and take care.

hi kelson, i understand how it feels. I ended up leaving my course bcoz i felt i couldnt learn anything while i had dp. Since leaving I have been trying to study at home and try to read books, even if i have to read the same page 10 times. Its good that you are still studying and im sure you will be fine because you have come so far already. Im sorry i can't really advise you but i hope someone else on the board will be able to help you. The extra anxiety will be making the dp worse for you which will be also affecting your ability to absorb information. Maybe someone can also advise you on how decrease your anxiety. Good luck....

I know how that feels. I am in my forth year of college and haven't even made it out of Freshmen status. I try and give the subjust a nmonic. That helps out most of the time. I am taking two classes this semester and four the spring semester. Kinda ironic but going for my Masters in Pschology. :lol:
But I take about half the night. Read just a little bit, maybe fifteen/twenty minutes, then take a five minute break. Think about what I read and try and repeat it back to myself. It takes longer I know but it's worked for me in the past. Maybe it might help you. Let me know if it works.

I know very much how this feels as i'm findong it increasivlly hard to concentrate at college, because my head is so busy and I feel really rather hopeless and high anxiety I can't really conctrate or focus on one thing for any given amount of time, but im going to try extra hard in the coming weeks becasue I can't be bothered to fail this year again!

I pop adderall which is HELL for dp, but It helps me get through school. Not this semester though, i might end up on academic probation.

Kelson, i feel you dog, i can't concentrate for shit when it comes to studying. Its like my mind just goes off to somewhere else and im just reading words and things aren't sticking in my head. Im currently taking 4 classes, and i have two A's, a B, and a D. The D comes from the class where I take the most tests. I just can't seem to good on the tests. Im gonna try harder to study for the next one. I really don't have any good advice on this matter, but just know i can relate.

Yes, Tulsa. I was in OKC back in Oct 30th, for a Haloween party at club babylon (33rd and classen I think?) Then we decided to go to Dallas randomly and we stopped in some Mama something or other's restaurant, after accidentally pulling into the parking lot of some cowboy strip club :oops:
