My mum has just told me that she's suffering from schizophrenia and has for a really long time... She also suffers from Depersonalization/Derealization...

My father has no mental disorders at all...

My sister who has a different father shows no mental disorders either...

I suffer from Depersonalization, and my head just feels fucked up...

What are the chances of me getting schizophrenia like my mum...? Is it hereditary?

Also is Depersonalization/Derealization hereditary?

She's 38 and I'm 17

She's been through so much and it's driven her around the bend...She's done some foolish things because of it :/

I'm scared I'm going to end up having it a very long time and getting as bad as her...

It was never researched whether depersonalization is hereditary, so it's unknown. But many mental disorders (including schizophrenia) have a genetic component, so it wouldn't be a surprise if this was also true for depersonalization. The concept of "dissociation" has also a strong genetic component.

What are the chances of me getting schizophrenia like my mum...? Is it hereditary?

According to wikipedia: 5 - 10%.
