I tried to stay away from forums like these but after 2 years I'm back! Basically, I've had constant DP for 2 years this year and i'm only 17! I woke up one morning just feeling detached and that's where it started. I began to recover quickly, but I decided to have a joint and it all came back! Anyway, since then, I've had pretty terrible DP! I always feel like I'm in a dream etc, but I just need clarity on some other things.

My vision has begun to get worse, maybe it's a like growing up think idk?

My memory is incredibly bad! I forget doing things, or telling people things all the time. If I try really hard I can remember what I did in the day or the day before. Recently, started having trouble remembering names :(

When I'm in a crowd of large people my brain trips and feels like I might pass out? That's a weird symptom but I hate it so much!

I also have a light sensitivity thing, if I stare at a TV and move my eyes, there is an imprint of the screen still in my vision for a second??

But yeah, I was researching Terry Pratchett and looked at his Alzheimer's case, he has a rare case called PCA. Most of these symptoms matched up with mine?!?!! It freaked me out so bad, I just wanted some ease of mind from you guys, like are these symptoms normal for dp?

please help guys!

EDIT

I should add it said most people are misdiagnosed with anxiety?

You will be fine. Next time you panic just say "ok my vision is bad right now but it could class back up any second. Also the thing that I do that can relate to what you do is look up a bunch of cases, if say stop for your own good. A great way to manage panic is to just Acceptit, once you do that incrementally over time you will feel allot better!!!!???:)

Vision problems can occur when you have a lot of anxiety - you can read more here. Also, a lot of people that have dissociation generally will have memory problems; this is called brain fog and there are really a number of reasons why someone could have brain fog:

  • Lack of sleep.
  • Lack of nourishment.
  • Extreme stress/anxiety.

I would venture to say that it's probably anxiety causing all of these problems for you. With that being said; have you had anxiety before your felt detached? Also, how are your anxiety levels at the moment? ...but, yes, these are all very common symptoms with people that are experiencing dissociation.
I have had some ups and downs of anxiety previously, due to being such a hypochondriac, but usually they're not to the point where i have to step outside, but every now and then I have a tiny panic attack and my anxiety stays in the background (it's there but like i think i'm used to it so I don't even notice it?

Thanks for your response dude! :)
