Hello there,

I have got DP/DR but it is going so much better. Not 100% recovered, but it's so much better than it used to be :) I am really starting to get happy and my old self again, bit by bit.

I am still struggeling though with something. Since DP/DR I have a strange pressure on my temple at the right side of my head. The more I try to be mindfull about it, the more it comes. I feels like the pressure point on my right temple is connected with a pressure between my chest, what can go upwards and downwards. I can sometimes feel it getting towards my throat and sometimes get to my belly.

All the pressure points make eacchoter worse. For example: My pressure point at my right temple is triggered, the other pressure points in my body will follow. They get in this kind of fight where they go towards eachother and get in conflict, what makes them both worse. The strange thing is that it feels like these pressure points are also connected with my thought patterns. When pressure points arrise, it's really hard for me to think straight and I get a bit of a brainfog or my thoughts get really messy. This can mean that I can get stuck in thought patterns and pressure points at the same time and they both make eachother worse and it feels like you're stuck.

Does this sound familiar for somebody or does anyone know what is going on? It's feels like locked up enegery is conflicting that has to be released or something. I don't know. DP/DR is a strange thing and it doesn't make a lot of sense most of the time. I can imagine that this story must sound very strange, but maybe there is somebody out there that can help me.

All the best to all of you and stay safe,

Luuk

You may be feeling pressure in temples, sinuses, facial muscles,.... but to fix this you should work on core and lower half of the body. You should do some grounding exercises.

Here are some of the things that you should do -

Grounding breath -

  1. Slow exhalations - Inhale through the nose and slowly exhale through the mouth (as if you are exhaling through the straw). Make sure outbreath should always be longer than inbreath.

  2. Diaphragmatic breathing (lying down) - Follow the same rule of breathing as above.

Grounding exercises -

  1. Crunches and its variations (Core-strengthening)

  2. 90-90 stretches

Hello my friend , yes ive felt that , if you lnow you dont have any toher condition that can give you pressure in your temples then dont worry its anxiety pressure in tenpled and in alot of palces acan be a sign of anxiety , snd of course if you desl with dp you probably desl with some other anxiety issues , i have those stuck thought feeling with some other things or part of the body , or used to its much better now , the best advice i will give you is , mind them no attention , if they are not aerious and only anxiety , you will stop hyperfocusing on them once your anxious period calms down , you are in that process i imagine , anxiety rises and parks in the brain , and it fades slowly , from a critical point when you dissosiate to ocd thoughts , and all kind of weird ass shit , but dont worry it will subside by itself and you will not be stuck with this for long , just accept that its now how it is and it will be easier :) , also maybe exercise from home or run if its allowed in your country excersice is magnific for a quick recovery

I will give the exercises some try! Why is it that work on the core and lower part of the body wil help with these anxiety sensations? Or is it pure to be in the moment?

The approach of not giving it any attention is very interesting and someting I am trying to do but it's like sometimes I 'get it' and a switch is turned off and sometimes I try to 'get it' but I dont't get it and I get stuck in all these body anxiety sensations and thoughts.

The feeling in my temple comes up --> my body reacts --> my mind reacts with all different kind of thoughts --> I try to let them be --> Get more stuck --> More sensations --> More reactions

But what it's needs to be: The feeling in my temple comes up --> Nothing and the loop breaks. But most of the time I can't. It's like I am trying to implement some technique with thoughts and sensations for so long now that my body and mind are wired that way. So I need to rewire my mind and body to try not to do anything about it and that is hard. It feels like an itch that you really need to scratch, and when you do it gets much worse. I have to try to change my attitude towards it but it's hard when all the sensations are so in front of your face and you get so stuck in thought and sensations that it influences my thinking and ability to feel emotions

Hello,

I'm stuck in same kind of sensation. For me it's one the main remaining symptoms for 2 years. Fist i think that these sensations were just in jaw but little by little, with meditation, i see that these sensations are also in my body.

I relate these sensations to attention and concentration problems. Espeacially i have the feeling that these sensations prevent me from being available for my surronding.

Some day, i can't think and engage in other activities than try to fix these sensations. Days can be very long in that cases.

I did pictures of the sensations. It's a bit like my body was in a anormal position (espeacially my head) and that i try obsessively to fix it.

I relate this also to derealisation symptom.

All this take me a lot of energies.

For information I have symptoms for 17 years.

Toni

I'm interesting to know how your symptomes have evolved.

Yeah, I don't see it either. He also suggested deep breathing. Yeah, that may help with anxiety, and as far as I know it has been scientifically proven to do so. But core strength training exercise? Why on earth would that help with anxiety at all? Where's the connection? Does squatting help? What about lifting weights? Where's the logic? Again, as far as I know, exercise in general may help, anything that gets your heart rate up, but why does it have to be a core workout specifically? That seems totally arbitrary to me.

That is certainly interesting, but at least as far as I understood it, all the research did seem to establish is that there's some sort of interaction between the cerebral cortex and the adrenal medulla, not that core exercise definitively reduces stress or anything of the sort. Still, core exercise of course can't hurt, and this research shows that there may be a benefit to stress.

This is an example of common sense not always being a good guide, this time on my part. This seems to make no sense from a common sense perspective, but research shows that there is a connection of some sort.
