I've noticed a great deal of negativity on this site, which although is understandable given the circumstances, it cannot be helpful for any of us.

What are some hobbies, activites, or other ways you attempt to deal more positvely to overcome the overwheling thoughts and feelings? What things make you happy?

Amen to that! I often feel like, although this is a terrible disorder and a scary one and can make you negative, we need to also feel positive somtimes and have hope, even when it seems impossible.

Things that help me: Watching a funny movie or TV show (old friends Re-runs and Simpsons on DVD, and the movie "Euro Trip" do it for me), playing a video game I get really into, listening to a really good song, getting involved in fixing something through and through...it's these moments that let me realize ther eis hope out of this, because I go for times without feeling the dp/dr like I do at bad times.

Walking, just walking helps - in the forest mainly. The best it is when I walk alone, when there is no one else, I feel almost "fine".
But than again, sometimes it?s better to walk in the woods with a good friend.

It's photography for me.. Revived my interest in it because in the 'digital age' I can see the results immediately, which is good for impatient people like me..

this is the reason i dont really post much, and try not to visit this site... i have had dp/dr for 6 years 24/7 soo i know how hard it is to be positive .. but i never seen the point in the constant negativity and moaning... theres been constant post on here about the mental attitude you have to have to get over this.. fair enough new people to this are scared and u can see the people that really need some support .. but i dont see the point in people that constanly say they think there going insane or have schiz, alot of people with dp will visit this site hopeing to find answers and often ive found myself leaving more worried because of someones pointless moaning and im sure others have as well. no matter how much some people are told about the real way to get over this, they dont seem to listen and are just making themselves worse. sorry for sounding like a dick ... just what i think
