Hello,

I hope you can help me. I live in Essex, England and am currently undergoing Cognative Behaviour Therapy (not for DP, for stress and anxiety) which ends in January.

I have been referred to a psychatrist (by asking my GP), whom I see every 3 months for about 10 minutes (I have been twice). I am now on Lustral 150mg a day (also known as Sertraline), which is an anti-depressent and does nothing for me.

Thus far my mild/moderate DP has not been tackled but I am very keen to press ahead.

Please can anyone advise me what my next move should be.

Thank you so much,

Jacqueline

Hi,

Have you had a look at the Depersonalisation Research Unit (DPRU) at the Institute of Psychiatry at the Maudsley in London, there is a link for it on the homepage at the bottom ?

They have some helpful info and are the only specialists I know in UK on DP/DR, most psychiatrists seem to only have a limited knowledge on DP.

take care,

Indigo

Hi Amlangela,

Thanks for your reply. You suggested Prozac...umm...I really don't want to have to take medication...but I think the time has come that I have to try something radical (Prozac etc is radical for me).

So, Amlangela you found it helped your DP? Please tell.

I am not bothered about anxiety or stress as the CBT has helped a great deal, but this DP is hard to get to grips with.

Anyway,

Thanks again,

Jacqueline

Hi Angela!

Cheers for your reply - lovely to hear from you.

So, You're moving to Espana - where abouts? I am hoping to move to Southern Spain next year.

Yeah I am trying to learn Spanish - I'm in my 2nd year and have just started on the Ser and Estar verbs. I did them last year but I kind of didn't bother taking it seriously; although I am this time around.

Bye,

Jacqueline
