Anyone had any experience with those?
Currently I am taking:

B100 complex - once a day( has 8 different B vitamins)
Vitamin D3(1000 I.U) -once a day(in case my DP is result of SAD which is a seasonal affective disorder)
St john's wort(300mg) - 3 times a day
Omega 3-6-9- 3 times a day (not really sure if I need it, was told that it contains important acids for the brain to function properly).
Xanax(0.25mg) - only when I can't handle anxiety

I just started taking all these, so can't tell you about any results yet, however St John's Wort really does help. I have been taking it for about 2 weeks now and don't feel as depressed as I was before.

I don't want to poo-poo anything, but I will anyway, as is my wont. Remember, unless the vitamins suppliments you are taking are fat soluble, you are pissing your money down the toilet, as they are not metabolised by your body. Vitamins have to be surrounded by complex proteins (i.e, in food) in order to be metabolised. Unless you are 'deficent' in a certain vitamin, they will do you no good whatsoever - other than a placebo effect you might expect. If you eat a normal, healthy balanced diet, you should get all the vitamins you need. Mega-vitamin 'therapy' has been shown to do more harm than good. All the good things and 'miracle' cures regarding vitamins and oils you hear about are usually found in sunday tabloid magazines, very rarely in the medical literature.

It has caused a bit of controversy over here in the UK, as Vitamin suppliments cost a fortune and half the time don't make this slightest bit of difference.

St Johns Wort, a 'mild' anti-depressant, is ok to take with a benzodiazepine. You shouldn't combine it with other anti-depressants however, or if you're pregnant.

B vitamins are water soluble, so you should take them with food. However, you will not lose all of the B vitamins no matter how you take them. Stores of them are kept both in your brain and your liver, and B vitamin therapy is quite common for psychiatrists to give alcoholics since alcohol wipes away your stores. A rare sort of amnesia can develop called Wernicke-Korsakoff encephalopathy in severe alcoholism. Since all of your neurotransmitters are created by a combination of B vitamins and proteins, wiping away these stores by drinking can cause permanent nerve damage. It may be able to be reversed however, using a vitamin B complex. In other words, these vitamins will stay in your system, take them with food, and take vitamins only in moderation, as the fat soluble ones (such as vitamin E) can become toxic in large amounts.
