I have indeed read that stress and anxiety can cause this, probably due to when we are tense we hold tension in our muscles often, and that can effect nerves temporarily.

but what worries me is on 3 occasions I have had numbness like the blood flow is a bit disrupted or something in my little fingers, and a bit of my hand, same place, I have woke up 3 times over the last 3 weeks with these areas feeling dead/numb and it happened earlier on when i had a nap, I woke up with these same areas feeling a bit numb and tingly like i had been lying on them? but I am sure I had not, and BOTH SIDES? + they feel a bit tingly now like the blood flow is a touch restricted, and the problem is I have not been very tense today, or worried, I don't feel particularly stressed, or at least I did not anyway.

anybody else had anything similar ? my little fingers feel a bit odd even now as I type this.

Yes, I have.

One day, oddly, as I was leaving therapy, I felt something odd on my index finger and looked at it. The tip of the finger had no blood flow at all and was white. It was weird. I've had other occasions when (again, oddly, when leaving therapy) other fingers went temporarily numb. It went away. I don't think it's anything serious.

If you use a computer mouse a lot, type a lot, play piano a lot, and so forth, this kind of thing is going to happen from time to time. Even if you don't, I wouldn't worry unless it doesn't go away.

Indeed its just worrying because it happens on both hands at the same time, and has happened 3 - 4 times over the last few weeks.

It can sometimes indicate a non-serious "pinched" nerve in your spine. I would watch it and see how it goes before I went to a doctor.

Sometimes I wake up in the morning with tingling fingers on both hands, usually the index and third fingers.

You might want to try some mild stretching exercises for your neck and shoulders from time to time -- you know, just flexing your shoulder and neck muscles a bit to get the kinks out.
