Nocturnal panic attacks or sleep apnea?

First off, I have mild derealization which I've had for the last 6 months that is constant but yet getting better here and there. Anyways, about 1-2 times a week I'll wake up in the middle of the night with real bad depersonalization, derealization, and dizziness. After it happens it usually makes me panic or puts me in a real high anxiety state but I just walk around or find a way to distract myself and it all goes away after like 5-15 minutes returning me to my normal level of derealization. Could this be a form of sleep apnea or perhaps a nocturnal panic attack?

Thanks

What you are describing sounds more like nocturnal panic attacks, although it could be sleep apnea. Sleep apnea occurs when you stop breathing for a time during your sleep. Waking up gasping at night is a tell tale sign, although sometimes it is hard to know yourself if you have apnea. If you are always tired during the day, even when you sleep eight or ten hours, and people say you snore a lot during the night, then you might want to get it checked out. However, you might want to talk to your doctor either way.
