Hey guys. I'm a year into this and my symptoms have changed up a bit. My fog and vision seem to be better. Still have lost distance and visual snow. And I now have a problem where I seem to be sleeping a lot. Anyone else have problems staying awake or getting too much sleep. I wake up and I'm instantly tired again.

Also I noticed Visual has been gone a while. Anyone have contact with him outside the site! I hope he's alright!

As always I'm looking for friends or people I can discuss these issues with. Being able to speak about it always helps. I can barely talk to my current friends about it. It kinda just bounces off them

Hi Kayde

I used to speak regularly with Visual, but it's been quite some time now since I heard from him. I could speculate on why, but can't speak for him. I hope he's alright too.

Greetings, Kayde --

I think we tend to lump everything into one category when it's handy to do so. A change in your body's need for sleep may be a separate issue from DPDR, possibly a symptom of a physical issue. Could be lots of things: vitamin deficiency, blood sugar imbalance, anemia (too little iron), low blood pressure, a low grade infection, and on and on. Do you have any other physical symptoms, a change in what foods you want to eat, a toothache, a recent bout of the flu or a cold or some other minor illness?

Or it could be a new sensitivity to the darkness of the season, which might indicate a vitamin D deficiency or low serotonin levels, among other things. I've been sleeping a lot more than usual lately too, but I've had a chronic sinus infection and bronchitis for several months now, so the reason for it is pretty obvious. Sometimes the reason can't be detected without some blood work. You might consider making an appointment for a physical checkup and be sure to mention your increased need for sleep while you're at it.

Please keep us posted. =-)
