Hi,

For THOSE that interest  , I will see a new psychologist specialised in dissociative disorders, trauma, dp, etc. So at least he will really know what he's talking about. I will have a diagnosis to see what is my main problem, then traumas that I can have. He does EMDR, Hypnosis, CBT, all in fact.

The problem is$$$ so I can only see him every 2 weeks. He seem not really sympathic (at the phone), but my psychologist told me that before. But it seems he knows what he talks about. He also traducted charts of dissociative disorders for SIDRAN.

I'll give you some news after Monday on that :)

Thanks for reading me,

Cyn xxx

Just go an email from an hospital where I explained my situation and ask for a psychiatrist who knows well dissociative disorders, and...

There were none!!!!

There reffered me another psychiatrist, that I already wrote to. It seeems that in Montreal, there is 1 psychiatrist aware of depersonalization. Wow.

I am really an ET.

Just one? Wow.

I've been thinking about how mental health professionals could be so oblivious to this disorder (neither of my shrinks said anything about dp/dr to me. Althought I have to admit there were tons of sessions where I could only speak a few sentences, so it might have made it harder for them to gague) and maybe it's because they don't want to say anything to scare us? Maybe they see it unessecary. Like maybe they see it as depression or anxiety being the root of dp/dr so they treat that instead. Who knows?

I don't know, but it's bizarre that dp/dr is not known to this point. Maybe if I asked for a specialist in anxiety, OK.... I asked to see a specialist who knows dissociative disorders or dp/dr, and in one whole hospital they were none.

Now I just have one psy left for this kind of problem. I don't know if I should see him.... it's my last resort. Now I see one but not specialised at all in dp/dr. At least he makes me try many things, but he's not aware of this prob.

Thanks

Cyn, I too went down this path, trying to find a psych specializing in dissociation disorders. After finding it was slim pickings, I stopped searching. I am sick of it too. It appears recognition of the type of dissociation we suffer from is relatively recent. Too bad for us... one day they will know more. Recearch is extrememly slow. I do hope you find a psych that works for you. I have semi-settled with one right now. It's difficult to jump around so much. Good luck Cyn. Remember, you are NOT alone. Hugs.
