I found that Celexa (Citalopram) helped me alot with my Anxiety and DP for a good number of years but its effects lessened as time went on...I was put on a different Antidepressant (Effexor) about 3 months ago and havent looked back..I feel so much better..The thing about antidepressants i have learned is that they have to build up in your system and this happens slowly (sometimes up to 6/8 weeks) so the effects (improvements) can be slow and subtle..But before ya know it your feeling better...Im like you (and i guess we are lucky in that way) that im very responsive to anti depressants...
I must emphasize to you that you MUST NOT be afraid to tell your doctor what is going on in your head..Tell him/her everything..I made the big mistake of doing exactly the same thing in the early days of my DP and as a result i prolonged my suffering..I was so afraid they would label me schizophrenic, psychotic etc etc and that i would be locked away in a straight jacket that i hid stuff from them...
Also if you feel your psychiatrist is not helping find a better more understanding one...Alot of people on here will tell you that the right doctor is very important as regards this condition...
You WILL feel better in time i promise...Just dont be afraid to tell people how your feeling and whats really going on in your head...This is very important...Hiding stuff i have found feeds the anxiety and in turn the DP...
