·Hi, I've been grappling with this weird dissociative state for about 2 months now. It sprang out of a period of extreme stress and my mild OCD. I've managed to reconcile myself with the DP (it's there, but I'm not obsessing about it all day like I was before)... and part of my strength came from reading the posts on this board, so thank you all for that.
But I have a question, does anyone know anything about the following? I have a visual aspect to my condition, specifically a kind of visual static that's a little like a tv screen, only less intense (especially in the dark) and kind of "blobby" patterns. Also, light sources produce lasting afterimages when I look away from them.
I don't know if this is DP or anxiety related, but I have admit, the "schizophrenic" possibility has popped into my mind again. I'm not freaking out yet, but I'm heading there... my psychiatrist just gives me no answers other than "ignore it" or (just what I didn't want to hear) "we have had a few cases where schizophrenics have these kind of symptoms for about a year before losing it".
*sigh*
Well, hi everyone, I'm glad I found this board, and I'm sure I'll be here for a while yet. Your strength has been a big inspiration to me over the last month, and if I hadn't found this board, I would still be stumbling in the dark (why are psychiatrists so damn useless?)
