Folks,

I keep posting and posting and posting that I've had a nearly complete remission of dp/dr with a cocktail put together over years of trials with a highly competent, academically respected psychopharmacologist. Once again, it's Lamictal + SSRI + TCA (tricyclic antidepressant) + Klonopin. As I also keep posting and posting and posting, this is the same structure that Dreamer has worked out, although her results seem to be less dramatic. It's also in line with research at the IOP.

Is anyone listening? Am I getting through to anyone, DP'er or researcher? There is some subset of us who will respond to this cocktail. Is anyone interested?

Hi Marjorie,I did notice your post.I'm so glad that you have found the combo that works for you.
I'm super sensitive to all drugs.
I've failed taking about six different SSRI's.
I'm afraid I haven't got past klonopin and gotta be honest I was rather hoping I didn't need to but it's not looking that way.
It looks as if I'll have to bite the bullet and trial other drugs soon.

I'm very pleased that you are feeling better.I think it's possible for many of us that there is a drug combo waiting to take us out of our misery.
Unfortunately we all react so differently to medication.
It just doesn't seem to be that one size fits all.

I 'd say a few here may have tried this combo?

All the best,cheers Shelly

Marjorie I hear what you are saying that's why I am taking lamictal 100mgs and Klonopin 1.5-2.0 mgs per day. No my DR is not gone but it is at a tolerable state at this point and hopefully it will go away in time. I would like to add that this is my 3rd episode with DR. Would anyone like to know what I was on the other 2 times when it lifted, Ok i will tell you I was taking nothing and it slowly went away. As shelley said we all react differently to meds and its not a one size fits all. I wish it was that simple but it is not and we all must find what works for us.

Hi girl,

I liscen to you. I think it may be a good combo, except I don't like too much Klonopin dosage, but the SSRI + TCA + Lamictal seem very good. But I have a question (many)!

Does all those meds can help you to work? Can you have memory with that? Does it affect concentration? Do you feel drugged on it? Do you feel dissociation?

I am very afraid of meds, I am off Paxil now, with Prozac I don't have zaps anymore, but I think of something to help me go through anxiety and I think a trycyclic can be good for that. I think of Anafranil. Then I may ask for Lamictal even if I am scared to death because I don't know the side effects.

Thanks for your post!!!

My god...I would be crawling on my knees trying to dial 911 with shaky hands if I was on that much drugs...

Come back and post when you'll be OFF those meds and then I'll consider that it helped you concretly.
How can you think that you're healed while you're still fully drugged ?
You really think you'll be fine withdrawing those drugs ?

PS : Pharmaceuticals drugs are pure chemicals...they don't even really know what it does to the brain.

No offence intended Marjorie...I'm just against drugs, and still happy for you if it helped in any way.

Cloverstone

Out of curiosity what SSRI and what TCA are you on? ZOLOFT 25 MG. TOFRANIL 10MG. When you found this cocktail did it give you immediate results or has it been gradual? I WAS ON ZOLOFT. SOME IMPROVEMENT. IMMEDIATE IMPROVEMENT SEVERAL DAYS AFTER ADDING LAMICTAL. ALMOST IMMEDIATE AFTER LATER ADDING KLOMOPIN.

Shelly

I'm so glad that you have found the combo that works for you. THANK YOU.

Ufortunately we all react so differently to medication. It just doesn't seem to be that one size fits all.

THERE IS A SUBSET OF US WHO WILL RESPOND TO THIS COCKTAIL. I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE SURE THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. IF RESEARCHERS MONITOR THIS BOARD, I WOULD LIKE THEM TO HAVE THIS INFO.

I 'd say a few here may have tried this combo? I HOPE SO.

Does all those meds can help you to work?YES Can you have memory with that? YES Does it affect concentration? IMPROVES IT.Do you feel drugged on it? I HAVE TO KEEP MOVING THE KLONOPIN UP AND DOWN TO MINIMIMIZE IT. Do you feel dissociation? I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DISTINGUISH THAT FROM DP AND DR.

Thanks for your post!!! YOU'RE WELCOME.

I dont care if those drugs would make me feel like I just won the lottery. I would know that it wasnt real and that sooner or later I would reach tolerance and I would feel 10x worse. I wouldnt even want to think about how Id feel after I had to quit taking all those chemicals. IN MY OPINION, the only REAL recovery comes from feeling good without the use of powerful prescription drugs.

I find myself in agreement with dakotajo and inflamed. Just the thought of such an arsenal of drugs effecting my brain all at the same time arouses feelings of confusion and panic. How would one know which one was doing what?

I know that many of you are taking these types of "cocktails" and I certainly don't fault you for seeking symptom relief but I find the prospect of doing so "scary!" I remember once I was given a anti psychotic drug (thorazine ) due to a mis diagnosis and then I had to take another drug with it becuase my muscles were getting rigid etc.

It seems to me that one would loose the ability to tell whether what one feels and thinks is coming from their natural mind or whether it was the result of a combination of drugs. I mean with a single drug the distinction is pretty easy to make.

But then again maybe I am wrong about this and the combination has a unique effect and one would be able to tell which drug was adding what to their mental/emotional state.

I am not anti medication.IMHO it's a personal choice and hey sometimes it can be a case of whatever gets you through the night.

One thought about the drug cocktail........is it possible that only one or perhaps two of the drugs are lifting the dp?

I don't know if anybody here has ever heard of the 80/20 rule(Pareto's principle),discoverd by an Italian mathematician. He said that 20% of people have 80% of wealth.
Later other mathematicians applied this principle to not only economics. They found this phenomena could apply to just about anything.

My point being lol yes I have one.
Pehaps only 20% of what you are taking has 80% influence on your dp?
This is just a thought.

Some of these drugs could be helping with other emotional problems.
I'm sorry Marjorie I don't know your story. As I understand it most of us don't have dp on it's own.

Somethng else I would like to add about a certain sedating type of drug(trying to avoid heavy discussion).Somebody who takes medication for
dr said she thinks it doesn't take it away it just makes her not care as much so that she can mentally adjust to the dr.
Personally I don't entirely agree.I believe that mostly this type of drug has direct action on the part of the brain that's getting sensory signals confused.

Marjorie,I'm sincerely glad that your life has improved. If you are pleased with the results then that's all that matters.
I think it's very helpful to share your experience here with others :)
Thank you
Best Shelly
