I am very familiar with the "distant voice" phenomenon as well, and I've felt it many times. It's like someone else is saying the words coming out of your mouth. It's just another symptom of DP and being detached from ourselves, but it is a particularly weird feeling.
I used to get it a lot at school, if I had to read in front of the class or give a presentation. I would be talking, but not paying attention to the words at all, just how weird it felt to be talking. This made it really difficult to concentrate.
I went to a therapist once who said if I should get this feeling in school, I should do something to "change states", like drop my book or cough, so that I would be distracted and forget about it.
Needless to say, that didn't work.
