Sorry for another "this weird thing happened" thread. I know the explanation isn't necessarily here, but I just want it to be out there.

So let's go over the last few days. I felt bad on Tuesday so started reality testing by looking at estate agent signs to see if their phone numbers had 27's in (a problem I had previously with a sequence of signs). Not one, so good. However the next day I am going to look at a flat. Down the Road it is on, the first sign has 27 in the phone number, then the next for a separate company, then the next. So basically it seemed to catch up magically the day after.

Anyway the next day, I'm trying to think a way around it as I can't carry on if I can't find some way of that being a thing and this being the real world at the same time. While I'm thinking about it, I remind myself of how I have had dreams that have foretold things I would see the next day and how that happened itself "coincidentally" 2 nights in a row...

So last night I have a dream and a friend who I rarely see is in it really vividly. This morning I open my phone and what do I see? He has randomly posted a picture of himself in a rarely used group chat. So not only did I have another dream that foretold what I would see, but it also caught up "magically" the next day just like the sign thing.

As with everything I post, these things would be unremarkable on their own... But with everything else I have to put up with it serioudly doesn't sit right...

I'm not in control, I watch this person walking and talking and doing stuff as normal despite the fact I can't tell whether it's really happening or not. These magical things that happen don't fit with my previous views on magic etc. But I seemingly prove any if it with science. I can't say I believe I'm ill, I can't say I even exist anymore.

All of this plus more would not piece together in the real world. So this is why I am so scared and confused. I need help but I don't think anyone in this world can help because they might not be real.

For... Fuck... Sake.

Hey,

I'm very sorry to hear about your issues. As someone who studied all these things way too much I can tell you everything is still real and meaningful (more details in the link in my signature), you're just in an extremely bad place with regards to anxiety and your brain is not finding a way to cope with it.

Trying to find patterns, thinking you actually FOUND them, having premonitions... It's all likely (obsessive) anxiety.

Relax, take it easy, reality is still the same and you're still safe. Your mind will heal itself in time, the less you think and obsess and worry the faster you'll be yourself again.

Good luck!

There is more to the mind than what we are told/see at face value. I've also had incredibly accurate premonitions in the past. I don't know what the hell it is, but it's a thing.

It does happen. The same thing happened to me with the phone thing in march 2019. A vivid dream of an ex girlfriend then i woke up to find a highly unlikely text from said ex squeez. That's just one example, i could list half a dozen more.

Another time i was at a party some years ago with a friend. We didn't know the host. My friend was going to ask the host if another of our friends could come along. For no particular reason i had to tell me friend it wasn't a good idea to ask. My friend ignored me and asked anyway. When he asked, the host turned around and said "if XX comes to my house, i'll fucking kill him". Without knowing the host or any links to my other friend, i just knew something wasn't right with such conviction i had to say. I have thought about that incident regularly for years, like wtf even was that, and how did you know. The situation wasn't important but the knowing without knowing has perplexed me for years.

I dunno about the numbers thing but thet do say the more you fixate on something the more it will appear in reality. Like you're just noticing all the 27s now that were always there anyway. Possibly more mundane than you think.

None of this means you're particularly ill. You're just having experiences and noticing things that many others have experienced and noticed

Had another premonition dream last night. I dreamt that I was in a movie and flaming meteors were crashing down all over the place. I look at my phone this morning and there's a story about how Jupiter is throwing asteroids in Earth's direction.

What is this. FFS.

[...] and I can tell you with certainty you're not schizophrenic. [...]
I understand the intention, a lot of people think they are schizophrenic and most aren't and it is just hurting them to obsess about it. So it is nice to want to help them not to think about it. But this should not be done at the cost of common sense. It is impossible to diagnose someone over the internet in a few posts. Even if none of what you observe in someone's posts indicates they could have schizophrenia, they could still be developing it "despite" what you know from them.

I see what you mean, and I was debating if I should post it.

Honestly, you're right, there's no way to be certain, I'll remove it.

I'm gonna start leaving the weird things I am seeing in this thread for people to observe, analyse, scoff at etc. Feel free to add yours.

Yesterday:
Saw the name "John Barnes" on a shop. Said to myself I bet I will see references to John Barnes in the next couple of days. Didn't need to, a friend text about "John Barnaby Nettles" on TV. I know this isn't exactly the same but this felt like me or the universe creating it in a perverse way.

Today:
Was in the chemist, saw a sign depicting that you can't use mobile phones there. Then later on a TV programme I saw one again. Said to myself, "OK I can put that down to just noticing it because I did before". But later on I am looking at patches on a market stool... There's one with a no mobile phones sign on. Why would that be on a patch?

Basically they may seem like ordinary coincidences to some, but it's the fact that I'm now predicting the kind of coincidences I see in some form or another. It feels like it's progressed and that some power is definitely fucking with me.

This might be hard to accept, but your brain is programmed to recognise patterns, once you ramp up anxiety / OCD thinking patterns these become easy to spot.

Time is a really common one, say wake up and notice it was 8.11am, you probably see the number .11 on a clock 10x a day, but every time you do see it you are hyper aware, which is an anxiety symptom, so it jumps out at you.

Now you have ramped this up to things that don't even match, it's part of the loop. John Barnes -> Barnaby Nettles isn't close.

No mobile phones has to have thousands of those signs we ignore all the time. You just started looking for them.

The fact you think you have 'power' is the bit i'd be worried about and suggest a physiatrist, other illness other than anxiety can also get you in this way of thinking, for instance bipolar 1&2 and many others that need more than to change thinking patterns, ie medication. Only him/her can really say if it's coming from OCD like thinking or not. It's not a power.
