I've spent a considerable amount of time looking on this site on my days off and Ive noticed good posts and some quite useless ones. Its very understandable for newcommers to post describing symptoms because they are new to the illness. But for long term dpers to engage in bizzare games of tennis, swapping useless info and not getting anywhere as a result is beyond me.This site should be for support and tips on recovery, not idle and habitual symptom swopping that ultimately goes nowhere. So PLEASE use this site productively.By posting messages of encouragement, support and advice to live through this and ultimately recover should be a common goal for us all.By encouraging and advising others you motivate yourself and remind yourself to use your own advice as well as the very good advice of others. We,who have made progress through this mindset have a DUTY to share our knowledge with those who are lost, confused and hopeless.Lets start doing this religiously!!

I agree and disagree.

I agree that people who have recovered should take the time to post how they did it, and to offer words of support and advice. However, sometimes, when you feel good, you just want to stay the hell away from anything linked to dp, for fear of invoking it again. People then start to drift away and don't think of coming back, because they don't need to.

And although symptom swapping is not particularly productive, sometimes it is just too damn hard to resist reaching out for reassurance. I think knowing that there is someone, or lots of people in fact who know what you are going through is comfort, and even if it is just to log on and make idle banter, it gets people through the day. The friendships on here have actually been a major help for me and my situation.

Understood.I suppose you forget how desperate things can be when you move on from the very dark days. But ultimately, posting and repeatedly posting descriptions of symptoms and lengthy philosophies that almost justify and sanitize dp is what frustrates me.Maybee Im taking these things too seriously but I'm convinced that specific advice, humour and stories with humanity is the best way to reach the desperate and reconnect to the world productively.

im a relatively long term dper and i visit this site very rarely now,but we sometimes no matter how long weve had this illness need reassurance from others

the symptoms are there for all to see from janines post on symptoms

as far as recovery goes its all about exercise, diet, distraction, going out and living life...but we all have bad days
