Hello all, I havent introduced myself here before so here goes. My name is Nine, I'm 19, in college, and I am from Thailand and today I just wanted to share an experience of mine where I found out that the internet rly is a place of misinformation and negativity.
So before all this, I had dpdr for 5 months now, and during the time leading up to now I have been researching the fuck outta this just like many of yalls. One of the reoccurring comments that Ive seen was that psydocs dont know shit about the existence of dpdr and it takes people many years to even get diagnosed.
I thought to myself, damn thats even in the US where its alot more developed, how would I stand a chance in Thailand!?.
But what do you know, recently I just got an appointment with a psydoc here in Thailand, mind you this is my first ever visit to a psych. I told him my symptoms and he said, "that sounds like derealization!". He told me hes seen multiple cases before and that its curable, which gave me alot of hope
.
In the end he prescribed me fulox (aka fluoxetine or in the west as prozac I think) and told me to try to exercise and go out with friends daily and I should be fine within a month or some. Definitely lookin forward to that and I definitely believe him that its curable since ive seen significant improvements during this past 5 months.
Hope this inspires and gives hope to some of yall on here too. Will keep yall updated and hopefully come back with a recovery story in a few months. For now I just went and got a gym membership and made tons of appointments with friends which has jam-packed my trimester break so definitely looking forward to that haha.
