Well as usual I can't really describe this one.
Sometimes when I'm engaged in deep conversation with someone I know well, and we're really agreeing on something personal, it feels as though the boundaries that usually seperate us are broken and we merge. It's like they become part of me, like their voice, their ideas become mine.
Like there is no Alex and Bob, or Alex and Laura (both hypothetical characters by the way) just a strange collection of ideas and feelings that come together as one.
It's weird.
Anyone else get this?

I think you're describing a Vulcan mindmeld (spooky voice: "your mind to my mind, my mind to your mind...")

seriously though, yes, I have experienced what you describe. It can be a good feeling in that you feel close to a person, but it can also be a very frightening/ troubling feeling, because one ought to maintain one's autonomy and sense of self.

Wow. I believe that what you feel is fundamental to being a human. Only DP would make someone think that this is strange. DP might intensify the situation a bit though.

Yes, I used to have that 'melting' feeling...Very hard to explain to others...And very, very frightening!

But, as you gain confidence in your own strenght again (and by this setting landmarks of where your personal borders are) this symptom is one of the first to disappear.

You are absorbing the thoughts and feelings of others (vivid imaginations of what others are telling/describing) and by this you are sliding into symbiosis.

It will simply poof away. No worries.

i get this from time to time. originally it was when on good drugs in good company and the feeling of being part of another, and at times the universe, was fantastic. now, when dped i get the flip side, which is being part of another, and at times the universe, but terrified

well as with anything if it doesnt feel good to you.. then i guess its a problem and you should work to change it if you can. it just depends on how you look at it. the merging of energies is actually a very old spiritual way of positive communication. as long as youre in control of it and its a pleasant experience than i dont see a problem. but if its not then do what you can to block it out. most people use meds. :)

That's dissociation of identity.
