I took paroxetine and venlaflaxine each for over a decade. They were similar in effect and side effects. Probably just a little better than placebo, just like in their trials. I took Seroquel for insomnia. I liked it for insomnia, and nothing else. I took Clonazepam for anxiety during an episode of clinical depression. It was a life saver. Kept 2 x .5mg tabs in my pocket at all times and used them only as a last resort. I know that's now how it is prescribed, but that's how I did it. When my episodes were over, I had no difficulty discontinuing it. I would say the best SSRI i ever took for any length of time was Escitalopram (Lexapro). I took a healthy dose (40mg/day) with no side effects whatsoever. Since having ECT in 2014, I take no meds. I've had 5 major episodes in my life, which exceeds the average number of episodes experienced by major depressives in their lifetime. Hopefully, I'm done with episode of major depression. However, If I have another episode and I choose to live, I will choose ECT over meds.
