Has anyone on this board ever done Ecstasy?

I have PTSD and DP disorder. I haven't been able to make any progress in regular therapy. I'm virtually completely cut off from my feelings. It's amazing, I had a momentary freedom from my dp and it was amazing how real and full of feeling life is supposed to be. I've had DP for as long as I can remember - right through much of my childhood. It's trauma related, In my strong Opinion.

Anyway, I'm now looking into doing MDMA-assisted psychotherapy. MDMA was the original Ecstasy, back in the 80s. Today all sorts of different drugs are sold as Ecstasy, some producing similar effects, some not.

If you're interested in it, I have yahoogroup for people with Complex_PTSD. I have a whole section in the links section on MDMA-assisted psychotherapy.

If you have done Ecstasy, how was it? How did it affect you dp? How did it affect your emotions?

If you want to talk about trauma, or trauma treatment, go ahead and bring it up.

I blame ecstasy for nearly 11 years of hell, it was 100% responsible for all of my symptons and I cannot begin to warn you enough about the dangers of this drug. I'd rather have a frontal labotamy than go anywhere near it ever again.

Ectasy forces your neurons to dump a huge load of serotonin in one shot. In the process it damages the cells. It would probably work well in your therapy but you will end up with permanent damage to your serotogenic system. Your better off with an ssri.

So, those of you who got DP/DR from Ecstasy; Did any of your friends have good experiences on the drug?

I'm just curious if you know if you got MDMA, or is it possible that there was another drug sold to you as ecstasy?

i took quite alot of ecstasy and it ended up causing an intense anxiety attack(3 weeks after the last one i took at that time) which caused a terrible 8-9 month period of severe dp and dr.

i loved the drug at first. i'd taken quite alot of other drugs but i really liked this one. i found it didn't have the depth of a decent acid trip(where the world expands and you're part of it as apposed to confused colours and hallucinations) however it was more of a sure bet. you could pretty much guarantee it's good feeling. i found it a very good social drug although i was never into rave music or crowded places when on it.

after a while either my reaction to it or the content of the pills changed and things went downhill after that.

xtc is supposed to to give you the reverse feelings of dissasociation, so if you have dp/dr, then could xtc (at least temporarly) make yourself feel better (disregarding health/legal consequences etc)?

Smoking pot gave me periods of dissacociation, but i think DXM started the chronic disorder.

Even tho I wouldnt recommend this drug, I know somebody who would come instantly out of dp/dr when he took X. It also took away his depression and anxiety. I think this definitely points to serotonin as the culprit in most of these cases. Unfortunatly over time the drug slowy stopped working and he ended up in a far worse situation.

sometimes something that affects you so drastically can provide hope or help you respond in new ways.

That being SAID, i don't know if there is danger in it because some people react badly.

if you want my advice, well i shouldn't really give it on here but....

I did ecstacy when I had bad DP, and I had a great time. although it didn't really help anything like i had hoped, i was still amidst in a lot of personal fantasy issues and involved with the people whom these fantasies were based on...hard to explain. if you did it in a therapeutic situation with a trusted person, it could definitely yield better results than my uh recreational times.

'E' caused my second bout of DR. Weed caused the first one. Anything that causes you to panic, or like Joe said, depletes your seretonin stock, can cause DR/DP.

I've taken it on occassion since, and while it hasn't prompted the return of DR (because it didn't cause panic), I wouldn't advise you to take it again, at least not while you are unwell. It's playing with fire. I would exhaust the other possibilities first.
