I don’t understand why most people or articles say dpdr is a symptom of anxiety and if you get rid of the anxiety you’re I get rid of the dpdr. So ssris are for anxiety and if you take them and it gets rid of the anxiety wouldn’t it get rid of the dr like most people and articles say ? It needs to work, i need it to work.

How long have you taken SSRI's and -- this will frustrate you even further -- are you sure you need SSRI? Some individuals need the opposite or something different altogether. Not everyone's DP can be treated exactly the same. I wish we all had the same pill and get rid of this thing but realistically speaking, everyone's biochemistry is different -- everyone.

There's gonna be a lot of stones on your path and many hurdles but you will find what will work for you.

Also don't be fooled by feeling relief and associating that with no anxiety. Anxiety can stay dormant and even affect you while you sleep.

To truly eradicate anxiety, it takes more than just a pill, sorry but that's almost always true.

Diet, exercise, mindfulness and laughter will definitely be the main contributors to your recovery.

Then again I could be wrong...or right.

I went on paxil in March when I had it last time
And it went away in 3 weeks to a month. I am pregnant now so maybe that's why it's taking longer to work? I just can not live like this at this point in my life and for a third time.

I take SNRI’s and I will tell you they can help if your dp/dr is anxiety based. I also take klonopin if I find my thoughts going down the rabbit hole. I’ve had several episodes going through this, and with patience, support and meds I have moved on. Unfortunately, some postpartum issues have me going through another bout but I’m trying to be positive. My meds may need adjusting and I’m starting therapy. But there is help out there. Finding the right meds takes time. Distraction helps. Force yourself out.

I've trialled many SSRIs gave them a fair trial and they all worsened my dp/dr (Paxil was the worst). I guess that's because they made me extremely apathetic and zombie like, a common complaint even for people without dp.

And btw,Medications don't fix your thoughts so if they help your anxiety, thoughts of dp will still linger in the back of your mind.
