I'm not currently in school because of the summer, but I have been worrying about this since it happened last year. In most of my classes, I got severe DR because of flourescent lights. All of the classrooms have flourescent lights. Nothing I could think about could lessen the anxiety and DR. Since it's the light that's causing it, I can't exactly think about something else. I have a while before school starts again, but does anyone have any ideas of how I could lessen my DR in class?

Its been awhile since I have posted as i only come back when my DR gets real bad. I had the same problem with the flourescent lights and I found out if you wear sunglasses or glasses that have some sort of mild-moderate tint to them it should help. I had read on this forum that a person got contacts that were tinted and this helped their DR when exposed to flourescent lights. LIAF

Ben,
What is the connection between sunlight and flourescents? I too have a very tough time the instant I get into class. Flourescents affect me extremely bad, and I know that it is linked with DR/DP and panic attacks. Plays havoc with my depth perception, too.
Any help here is appreciated...I start classes again next month and am anxious.

Something to do with the fact they flicker at 50/60Hz (50 here, 60 in the USA). This is because AC is alternating current.

You can't notice it yourself but your mind can.

Flys can actually 'see' the light going on and off 50/60 times a second.
